Kurama-dera

Kurama-dera (鞍馬寺) is a Buddhist temple located in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. During the Sengoku period, it was situated in northern Genbu Highlands in the Yamashiro province.

History

In July 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke ventured to the temple to confront the leader of the Shinbakufu and former Shogun Ashikaga Yoshiaki. Waiting, Yoshiaki sat waiting while having the box holding the Jewel of the Imperial Regalia in front of them. While they came to assassinate him, Yoshiaki bargained with Naoe for his life and convinced her to take the box and gave his last information of a shadow at Sakafuneishi in Yamato. Angry, Naoe accepted nevertheless. When Yasuke stated there was no promise at his end, Yoshiaki struck a deal for the location of one of the Templars, whom Yasuke meant to hunt. Naoe and Yasuke left the former Shogun while they left to investigate their new leads.[1]

While there, Naoe and Yasuke recovered two pages scattered across the temple's grounds while Naoe climbed its tallest pagoda and surveyed the region.[2]
