Kadar Al-Sayf

Kadar Al-Sayf[1] was a member of the Assassin Order during the 12th century.[2]
Biography
Kadar was a journeyman Assassin (neither a novice nor a master), and the younger brother of Malik Al-Sayf. From Kadar's words in Solomon's Temple, it is clearly evident that he admired Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's skill and rank.[2]
Kadar was uninformed as to why exactly they were in the Temple, thus he asked Altaïr to explain. Altaïr informed him that the Templars had found something in the Temple, and that the Master wanted them to retrieve it.[2]
Later, Kadar found himself at a digsite together with his brother and Altaïr, where they saw several Templars walking around inside. Among them was Robert de Sable, who Altaïr was eager to kill, much to Malik's objections.[2]
When Altaïr revealed himself to Robert and the Templars, Kadar and Malik came to join the fight. However, after Altaïr was thrown out of the room and forced to leave, Kadar was killed in battle.[2]
When Altaïr returned to Masyaf, he informed Al Mualim that Kadar and Malik were dead. However, Malik came in to contradict him, revealing that only Kadar had died in Solomon's Temple.[2]
Malik, already embittered toward Altaïr for his breaking of the Creed, was infuriated by his brother's death. He believed that without Altaïr's arrogant actions, Kadar would not have perished, and he would not have lost his left arm.[2]
Trivia
- "Kadar Al-Sayf" translates to "Destiny of the Sword."
- Kadar wears the short robes and dark hood common to the lower-ranked Assassins and guards in Masyaf.
- Unlike his brother, Kadar seems to greatly respect and admire Altair.
