"Ah, Venezia! What other place is as beautiful, as stable, as perfect!"
―Alvise, during Ezio and Leonardo's tour of Venice.[src]

Alvise da Vilandino (1441 - 1500) was a baggage handler who resided in Venice.

He was born in Venice in 1441 and in 1481 he welcomed the polymath Leonardo da Vinci and his close friend, Ezio Auditore, to Venice. He gave the pair a short tour of the San Polo District and welcomed Leonardo to his new workshop in the city before being rudely left without a tip for his service.

Alvise continued to work as a baggage handler for several years, until, convinced of Venice's superiority, he enlisted in the Italian navy. In 1500, he was tasked with defending the fortress of Modon from the Turks.

After a night of heavy drinking, Alvise awoke to Turkish cannon fire bombarding the town. Panicking while running across the deck, he tripped, hit his head and drowned.

When it became clear Venice had lost the battle, he was accused of negligence by his ship's captain and erased from the logs of the navy.
