John Sheffield, 1st Duke of Buckingham and Normanby was an English poet and Tory politician.

Sheffield had a private residence built, the then-called Buckingham House. After his death, King George III purchased it in 1761 as a as a gift for his wife, Queen Charlotte.[1]
