- "It's a bloody marvelous time to be alive. An age of invention. So many clever blokes dreaming up impossible machines, sorting away more gold than Queen Victoria herself. But none of those shillings ever make it into the pockets of the poor devils whose blood is spilt building this glorious empire. The working class sleepwalks through life, unaware of the machine that drives them. Let's wake them up then, shall we?"
- ―Jacob Frye.[src]
Jacob Frye (1847 – unknown) was a British Assassin active in London during the Victorian era, and the twin brother of Evie Frye.[1]
Born in Crawley, where they were raised as Assassins from birth, Jacob and his sister moved to London to overthrow the oppressive establishment and help the poverty-stricken masses.[2]
Alongside Evie, Jacob led the Rooks, a criminal syndicate opposing the Templars. Unlike his level-headed and stealthy sister, Jacob was reckless and rebellious.[1] And at some point in his life, Jacob came into contact with the novelist Charles Dickens, and the biologist Charles Darwin.[2]
Equipment and skills
Having been trained by the Brotherhood from birth, Jacob was a skilled Assassin, adept at stealth, combat, freerunning and observation. In addition, he possessed the rare ability of Eagle Vision.[3]
Jacob was also an experienced brawler, proficient in hand-to-hand combat and could easily engage multiple enemies when equipped with his brass knuckles, which allowed him to achieve more vicious and brutal take-downs.[3]
Due to the era's restriction on open weaponry, Jacob kept an arsenal of hidden tools including his Hidden Blade, which was equipped with a rope launcher – a versatile tool that he could utilise to access and scale areas quickly, in addition to creating zip lines which Jacob could assassinate from. Accompanying this, the Hidden Blade contained hallucinogenic darts, allowing him to eliminate groups of enemies at a distance upon the dart's contact with an open flame.
In terms of equipment, Jacob wielded a kukri blade, a cane-sword, a six-shot revolver, throwing knives, and brass knuckles.[4]
