Gas mask
The gas mask was a piece of equipment utilized by the Assassin-turned-Templar Shay Cormac as well as to French and British Bounty Hunters, during the 18th century.
It consisted of a piece of cloth that Shay could pull up to cover his face, in order to protect himself from the harmful effects of poisonous vapors or smoke bombs. He would typically keep the mask lowered, using it only in situations he deemed necessary, as well as during hunts for his former Assassin brethren. Bounty Hunters and Assassin Gang leaders wear this mask all the time, which protects them from any smoke or any gas vapors, making them hard to kill or to escape from.
Trivia
- Some British regulars, and the Jägers in Assassin's Creed III wear a mask similar to Shay's gas mask, but they do not provide protection from smoke.
