Fort Arsenal was a stronghold in New York City that was occupied by gang members during the mid-18th century. In 1756, it was claimed by the Templar Shay Cormac after saving Christopher Gist from execution there.
In June 1756, the hanging of Christopher Gist was to take place at the fort, but the timely appearance of Shay Cormac prevented the execution from taking place. Upon realizing that his ship, the Morrigan, was anchored at the nearby docks, Shay cleared the area of gang members and took possession of the stronghold, using it as his residence and personal headquarters.
Trivia
In Assassin's Creed III, the fort was not present in New York . It was either destroyed, or it was a map-goof.
