The house of the writer Al-Jahiz was located in the Round City of Baghdad, outside the southwestern wall surrounding the Caliphal Palace.

During the 860s, the Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq came upon Al-Jahiz's House and discovered to be tightly locked with no area of entry, except for a breakable portion of the second floor's roof. He managed to locate an explosive jar and destroyed the roof, gaining access into the residence. Within the house, he recovered an outfit from a large chest.[1]
