Draupnir Smida

Draupnir Smida was the forge, where Odin's ring Draupnir was created, in eastern Vangrinn, Svartálfaheimr.

History

In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Svartalfheim, the Æsir lord Havi discovered the forge surrounded by four pillars and recollected the time when Loki pulled the dwarven blacksmiths Brokkr and Sindri into a bet. The bet put the brothers to work on creating gifts greater than the three gifts, Gungnir, Skíðblaðnir, and Sif's hair, he received from the Sons of Ivaldi. Although Loki transformed into a fly to distract Brokkr, the brothers still created Draupnir, a ring that had the power to replicate itself eight times every ninth night.[1]
