Dour Gate

The Dour Gate was part of the ancient fortification of London built by the Romans in the early 3rd century, when Great Britain was a province of the Roman Empire. By the time of the Great Heathen Army occupation of the city in the 9th century, the gate was one of the last remaining still standing.

In 873, the following Eivor Varinsdottir's defeat of the Frankish captain and Order of the Ancients member Vicelin, she met the reeves Erke Bodilsson and Stowe by the gates to discuss the aftermath of the city siege.[1]
