The Death tree was a large dead tree in Therme Wetlands in Makedonia, Greece.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Magi of the Order of Hunters, Pactyas the Huntsman set out to lure and destroy the Spartan misthios Kassandra, as he had learned she was one of the so-called "Tainted Ones", people he'd sworn to eliminate. Before Kassandra reached the tree, Pactyas hung dead from the tree, allegedly victims of Kassandra, and gathered the dead's beloved nearby. He threatened and scared them into seeing Kassandra as the enemy, so that when Kassandra found the tree, the people approached her threateningly, led by Pactyas.
