David Walston, commonly known as Big Dave, was a blacksmith who resided within the Davenport Homestead during the American Revolution. As he resided there, David helped to craft weapons and other objects, which could later be sold to raise income, or to make weapons to fight with.

During his travels, the Assassin Connor discovered David in the Frontier, who was being held at gunpoint by British troops, beaten, dragged, and insulted. The leader of the group revealed that he had deserted, but had been searched for and discovered by the said group, before being dragged through the forest to make an example for deserters. Connor approached the group, promting a Regular to threaten him, and request his departure. Upon Connor's attack on the Regulars' and the deaths of all but one, David was subdued by the remaining soldier and had a pistol held to his head. David drove his elbow into the soldier's stomach, forcing him to lessen his hold. With the distraction, Connor fired his pistol into the soldier's head, freeing David. Connor relieved David of his bonds with a knife, before exchanging names and producing some conversation. Connor offered David hospitality at the Homestead, and offered him a job their as their blacksmith, to which he agreed, and moved to the Homestead.

From there, on David's request, Connor bought him a better hammer from a general store, so that David could craft better items. Despite this, David was soon located on the Homestead by a group of British soldiers, who intended to have him sentenced for his desertion. To this end, Connor, David and some of the Homestead residents fought back and took out the British troops, securing David's freedom.
