The Dagger of Brutus

The Dagger of Brutus was a weapon that belonged to the Roman senator and Assassin Marcus Junius Brutus, hidden away in an underground chamber in Rome alongside Brutus' armor until its recovery in 1503.

Usage

It is heavily implied in the Romulus Scrolls that the dagger was the same weapon Brutus used to kill Gaius Julius Caesar.

The dagger was made available after collecting all of the keys and scrolls from the different Lairs of Romulus, and was found in the same underground chamber as the Armor of Brutus. It was the best short weapon available to the Assassin Ezio Auditore during his time in Rome during the 16th century.

Trivia

A sketch of the Dagger of Brutus
  • The Dagger of Brutus was modeled after a Roman pugio, a type of dagger used as a secondary weapon by Roman soldiers during the 1st century C.E.
  • Whenever Ezio wielded the Dagger of Brutus, enemy morale was reduced by 20 points, which meant that lower ranked guards and crossbowmen would run away after the death of only one regular guard.
  • The dagger's kill animations were unique, and differed from those of other short bladed weapons that Ezio could wield, in that they were more brutal and included more violent stabbing animations, another reference to the death of Caesar.
