Councillor's House
The Councillor's House was the home to married Viking couple, council member Hjorr Halfsson and his warrior-wife Ljufvina Bjarmarsdottir, in Jorvik, Eurviscire.
History
Viking Age
By 874, Hjorr Halfsson and Ljufvina Bjarmarsdottir made a new home in Jorvik after leaving King Harald Fairhair's offer of unity under his influence in Norway. There, Hjorr became a council member to King Ricsige of Northumbria as Ljufvina aided in any task to keeping the peace to fighting battles. One day, they received a letter from a Poor Fellow-Soldier of Christ but did not open it. At their home, Ljufvina held the letter but was soon attacked by two Red Hand bandits. Fortunately, she defended herself well and killed them before escaping. Luckily, her friend Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan came by and found her in a nearby tower, before more could happen[1]
After the Order of the Ancients' influence was ultimately removed,[2] both Hjorr and Ljufvina received a surprise from their son, Geirmund Hel-hide, who left them in Avaldsnes few years earlier. Immediately, they welcomed him back into their family as they all talked with each other and reconciled.[3] Before Geirmund left to join Guthrum, his parents gifted him a horse to travel before saying good-bye.[4]
