Coin is a monetary unit made of various metals throughout human history. Coins tend to be relatively small, flat, and lightweight, and they have been used for trading in numerous cultures.

Usage

The Animus system, enabling people to revisit times past in virtual reality simulations, simulated the historical currencies of any time period or country with the coins.^[1]

These included the drachma in ancient Greece^[2] and Egypt^[3], florins^[4]^[5], ducats^[6]^[7], and reales throughout Europe from 13th to 20th century, akçe in Ottoman Constantinople^[8], livres in France and doubloons in the West Indies during the Golden Age of Piracy^[9]^[10]^[11] as well as pound sterling throughout the British Empire.^[12]^[13]^[14] In addition, sometimes special coins were used, such as Assassins' coins collected by the Assassin Aveline de Grandpré, and the Templar coins collected by the Levantine Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.^[15]
