A typical Caltrop Bomb.
A typical Caltrop Bomb.

The Caltrop Bomb impeded enemy movement by dispersing small spikes across the ground, rendering its victims vulnerable during a fight. It could be crafted using any shell or gunpowder type, combined with the caltrops effect. The Caltrop Bomb was mainly used to stun enemies.[1]

Description

Caltrops are objects with three or more spikes, arranged in such a way that at least one of the spike will always face upwards when it lands on the ground.[2] This bomb uses the force of the blast to disperse these spikes across the blast radius. Anyone who steps onto these spikes gets stunned due to the spikes. Ezio used these bombs to escape pursuers, or to impede the movement of attackers when he was outnumbered.[1]

Trivia

  • Ezio is immune to the effects, which allows him to easily defeat or escape enemies.

  • In a Den Defense, Caltrop Bomber Assassins are one of the units you can deploy. Their bombs do only a small amount of damage, but slow their targets' movement speed significantly allowing the other units to make quick work of the Templars.
