Brauroneion

The Brauroneion was a sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Artemis Brauronia in the Akropolis Sanctuary in Athens, Greece.

Build during the reign of Peisistratos, the sanctuary was located near the Propylea and consisted of a portico, and a wooden statue of Artemis and a doe. The statue was later replaced with a marble on craved by the famous sculptor Praxiteles.[1]
