Yeah, but for multiplayer... incorporating it for the story line would make sense, if let's say, the protagonist was meant to embody the characteristics of the gamer like "Link" from the Legend of Zelda or Noble Six from Halo Reach.

Desmond was his own character, why customize him to fit our desires? Other than changing the color of his hoodie and maybe jeans, we can't go and do anything else, like swapping his gender.

Also, the new modern day protagonist is going to be Eve's descendant, so it would have to be a female... with her own personality. Why customize the entire character? This isn't Sims.
