Outsider I agree with you and I think the next AC will probably be a lot more polished than Unity. But this still doesn't justify the weak story. The game doesn't make us care very much about the characters (maybe some people will but I didn't). AC2, AC Revelations and AC3 IMO had very strong stories and personally that's what I miss in AC Unity. Bugs can be a problem but like you said Outsider it's the first game in current gen consoles it's normal that the transition is messy.
There are a lot of things Unity got right though. The one thing that really amazed me is the atmosphere. Paris is truly the best city ever created in AC. I was disappointed a couple weeks earlier when I learned that Unity didn't have ambient tracks but it really doesn't need any. The city is so alive there is so much action going on, the citizens are reacting to everything you do (it's really fun scaring people off by just drawing our sword) and the sounds and voices are really well made. The graphics are amazing, the customization is deep, you really feel a sentiment of progression as you learn new moves and skills. You can truly play stealthily for the first time in an AC game (the BlackBox missions are the best), the combat is challenging and fun at the same time. You really need to pay attention to your timing otherwise you can die very easily. And the parkour could be polished but it's still great and it gives a lot of freedom to make you go as you wish where you want to go. It can still be a mess sometimes but nothing too hard to handle.
With all of these things, I am not that much worried because Unity did a lot of things really well, but I want a better story that makes me care about the characters. The reviews are mixed and I guess a lot of them are bad because people grew tired of AC. If only Ubi could give a break for a year, it would be great for the franchise.
