Thasos Theater

The Thasos Theater was a theater overlooking Thasos City on its akropolis on the Greek island of the same name.

History[edit | edit source]

Erected in the 5th century BCE, the theater was built in a natural dip on the akropolis, allowing a beautiful view of the Aegean Sea. The theater was also where the writer Hegemon invented a form of parody.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, the theater was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[2]
