Biography[edit | edit source]

Career[edit | edit source]

Liu Yan works as a TV graphic designer by day and draws in her spare time. She creates her digital art using Adobe PhotoShop, sometimes with help from a 3D Max model if something complex is needed to be drawn.[1]

Assassin's Creed[edit | edit source]

In 2015, Liu Yan was commissioned to create a poster for the Chinese special edition of the Assassin's Creed: Revelations novel.[1] In 2017, Yan went on to create cover art for Assassin's Creed: Uprising issues 1 and 2.[2] Later that year, she created cover art for all four issues of Assassin's Creed: Reflections, with only one cover being a variant.[3] In July, she created the cover art for the Assassin's Creed: Origins prequel novel Desert Oath.[4] In 2018, Yan created variant cover art for the first issue of the Assassin's Creed: Origins comic.[5] Later that year, she created a new cover for Assassin's Creed: Heresy featuring Jeanne d'Arc.[6]

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Liu Yan has been a fan of the series since she bought Assassin's Creed in 2008, spending her very first paycheck on a new computer and the game. In 2010, Yan started creating the original comic series Cain's Red Sea, inspired and influenced by Assassin's Creed. After looking at her work, a friend of hers suggested that she create Assassin's Creed fanart and comics. Her favorite characters from Assassin's Creed are Yusuf Tazim and Shay Cormac, with many of her fan-made comics centering around one or the other. Yan is also an avid cosplayer, handcrafting her own replicas of Shay and Ezio's costumes. She ended up taking the outfits to France for a photoshoot. Her favorites fanartists are "clownkid666" and "luulala", and has learnt from them.[1]
