The Olynthos Fortress' facade

Olynthos Fortress was a military fort located southwest of Amphipolis at the border between the regions of Roots of an Empire and Unexplored Mount Pangeon in Makedonia, Greece.

History[edit | edit source]

During the Peloponnesian War, the fort was infiltrated by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, who recovered a spear which had allegedly belonged to the Greek hero Achilles. She also slew the polemarch and the captain stationed at the fort, burnt their supplies, and claimed their valuables.[1]

At the behest of Darius, Kassandra also recovered a number of documents within the fort, among them a clue to the identity of a member of the Order of Hunters branch of the Order of the Ancients, and an encoded note about the meetings by the man known as the Recruiter.[2]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Though the fortress is located roughly where the polis Olynthus was, the city-state itself doesn't appear in Odyssey.
