Knud (died 870) was a Viking and cousin of Sigurd Styrbjornsson.
Biography
In 870, Knud accompanied Sigurd on his voyage east. In Bulgar, after Sigurd had dealt with an ambush at a swordsmith's shop, Knud arrived in time to hear the youngest attacker tell Sigurd the location of a wealthy merchant's castle.[1]
The pair infiltrated the castle of the merchant they were told about, seeing the man and a number of guests having a banquet. Though Knud wanted to start pillaging, Sigurd decided to wait until the wine affected the guests enough that they would have an easy time stealing what they wanted.[2]
Later, they began looting the place, but one of the guests awoke as Sigurd stole a tapestry, and he was forced to kill him. The noise caught the attention of the Hidden One Ammon, who decided to investigate. The Vikings fought and dispatched a few guards before Ammon arrived, fatally stabbing Knud with his Hidden Blade and launching himself into a fight with Sigurd.[2]
