John Pizer (c. 1850 – 1897), also known by the nickname Leather Apron, was a Polish bootmaker who lived in London, England, during the 19th century.[1]

Before 1888, Pizer already had a reputation in Whitechapel for scaring prostitutes, and he had been arrested and convicted for assaulting someone with a knife. During the panic caused by Jack the Ripper's Whitechapel murders, Pizer was a suspect in the Metropolitan Police Service's investigations. When this information leaked, Pizer's safety was compromised, and Inspector Frederick Abberline tasked the British Assassin Evie Frye with escorting Pizer to his office for interrogation.[2]
