Governor's Villa
The Governor's Villa was a villa in Lunden, serving as the residence of the city's governor during its occupation by Vikings of the Great Heathen Army.
In 873, the governor Tryggr and his men were assassinated by the Order of the Ancients members Vicelin, Frideswid, and Avgos Spearhand in the villa. The Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir and Lunden's reeves Erke Bodilsson and Stowe discovered the crime scene and determined that three perpetrators were behind the attack. Eivor and the reeves then decided to find and stop the assailants, permanently.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Governor's Villa is based on the actual Roman governor's palace or Praetorium of Roman Londinium. Its location in-game is fairly accurate; however, it is incorrectly depicted on the left bank of the Walbrook river while in reality it was on its right bank.[2]
The lion statues at the villa's entrance are reused from the Terrace of the Lions.
