Ezio customising his armor at a tailor merchant

Customization is a gameplay mechanic of Assassin's Creed II and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. In the Tailor shops in all of the cities, the player can dye Ezio's clothing, although the possible color schemes depend on which city they are in. At any city, the player can always switch back to the default color, Assassin White, for free.

The Assassin's Creed II achievement "Perfect Harmony" can be unlocked by dyeing Ezio's clothes with both Wetlands Ebony and Wetlands Ivory. Both color schemes are available through tailors in Romagna/Forlì.

In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, you can also customize the Assassin Apprentices with different armor colors and outfits. Again, Ezio's Master Assassin robes can be dyed another color.

Dyes

For a list of dyes, their locations and prices, see: Tailors.

Dyes have a common characteristic: a prefix on their names that states where the dye originated from.

Trivia

  • Getting the achievement "Perfect Harmony," by dyeing your outfit Wetlands Ebony and Wetlands Ivory, is a clear reference to Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder's "Ebony and Ivory" hit, in which the first line of the track is "Ebony and Ivory live together in perfect harmony."
  • The various dyes (aside from Assassin White) don't remain unlocked after they have been purchased. This means that if you want to switch back to another dye that you've already purchased in the past, you'll have to buy it again.
  • Even if Altaïr's Armor and Armor of Brutus are dyed, the color of the robes (save the inside of the hood) will not change.
  • The dyed color of the Assassin Apprentices will be the colour of the cape they wear as a level 10 Assassin.
