Avaris, also called Haat-wurat, was the Hyksos capital of Egypt.
History
In the 16th century BCE, the city was attacked but its defenses held fast because of the Hyksos warriors, prolonging Pharaoh Khamudi's reign for many years until its inevitable fall.[1]
By the 3rd century BCE, a sword from the city had made it's way to Krete where it was obtained by the misthios Kassandra.[2]
