Something's going on with his date of birth. The database has it listed as 1434, then goes on to say he played a major part in the Battle of Anghiari--which took place in 1440. He would have only been 6 years old. I presented the information as a Trivia point, but this isn't the first DOB issue I've seen in the database. Is Mario's name Mario Auditore da Firenze? The only reason I ask is that the suffix 'da Firenze' would imply that he (and his brother Giovanni, for that matter) is from Firenze (Florence) when he isn't. Italian surnames of this period did not conform to modern ideas of a son having exactly the same name as his father so Giovanni (who, as I alluded before is not, I think, from Florence originally) would have named his son after the city of his birth. Mario may be better refered to as Mario Auditore da Monteriggioni if that was indeed where he was born.
- The "da Firenze" from their name is a title, not the place of birth. Giovanni and Mario weren't nobles by birth, so they only had a surname. And sign your posts, please. -- D. Cello 15:15, November 28, 2009 (UTC)
Well that's me telt. Doesn't make much sense that Mario would have a Florentine title but then the first game featured Christian priests (or monks)complaining that their sons weren't as brave as Altair so I guess Vidic was right that we can't trust what's written in books 'or an online encyclopedia'. Oh here we are: --92.41.15.153 07:08, December 1, 2009 (UTC) just to make you happy.
@signore cello,
da firenze indeed isn't a title, furthermore it really means coming from florence.
If you do some research on Leonardo, you will find out that his name is Leonardo di Ser Piero - to us known as Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci meaning he's coming from Vinci. yours Floxy

They're right, "da Firenze" literally means "of Florence, suggesting birth or residence in the city. Mario has neither. Also, his quote concerning the feathers is incorrect. If no one else fixes it, I'll correct it once I get the exact wording on my current playthrough. AgentValentine 22:22, February 6, 2010 (UTC)
Knock yourself out, sweetheart. -- D. Cello 02:45, February 7, 2010 (UTC)
His page name needs to be changed to Mario Auditore. He does not have "da Firenze" as a title, because he does not live there--Giovanni moved there in 1454. Mario stayed in Monteriggioni. I'm looking at the in-game database entry as I type this. -- AgentValentine 03:35, February 7, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! I love you guys. <3<3<3 AgentValentine 04:21, February 7, 2010 (UTC)
