Yang Yuhuan (楊玉環; 719 – 756) was a consort of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, who reigned in the 8th century. She bore the rank of guifei (貴妃), making her his highest-ranking concubine, for which she was most popularly known as Yang Guifei (楊貴妃).

After the fall of Tong Pass, she fled to Mawei Station with Emperor Xuanzong. There, they suffered a mutiny. In order to protect his safety, she willingly gave herself to death and was hanged by a eunuch.[1]
