The xiphos is a double-edged, one-handed sword, commonly used in Ancient Greece.
Description
The swords were generally 45–60 cm (18–24 in) in length, although around the era of the Greco-Persian Wars, Spartan soldiers supposedly used swords as short as 35 cm (14 in).[1]
History
The sword was popular among mercenaries who fought for either Athens and Sparta during the Peloponnesian War. With sufficient funds and resources, users could upgrade the sword to different tiers, increasing its attack and lethality against opponents while also displaying finer craftsmanship.[2]
The sword was favored by two member of the Cult of Kosmos, The Hydra and Pausanias, however the Spartan misthios Kassandra claimed both of their swords after assassinating them.[3] Inside the simulation of the Underworld created by the Isu Aletheia, the legendary hero Perseus fought with a xiphos that was later claimed by Kassandra upon having defeated him.[4]
