Description
Ezio and his brother are talking in the street when Federico points out Cristina Vespucci and encourages Ezio to talk to her. Ezio, young and inexperienced with women at the time, stutters and makes a fool of himself to Cristina instead. However, as Cristina walks away, Ezio recovers and makes Cristina smile, which Federico assured was promising. Wanting his second chance, Ezio decides to follow Cristina to her home, where she is assaulted by Vieri de' Pazzi, who demands that she "open her legs" for him. Ezio intervenes, beating up Vieri and forcing him to flee. Vieri vows that Ezio and his whole family will pay. Thanking Ezio, Cristina told him her name and told Ezio that he had earned his second chance.
Dialogue
Ezio and Federico are talking in the populated streets of Florence.
- Federico: What about that one? (Gestures his head casually toward Cristina)
- Ezio: Oh! She is beautiful...
- Federico: Okay! Then go talk to her?
- Ezio: Just like that? Talk about what?
- Federico: It doesn't matter. See, little brother, most men are so afraid of beautiful girls that, anyone who actually talks to them has an advantage! Just make it up as you go.
Ezio takes a deep breath, exhales, and walks in front of Cristina. Ezio puts on a big smile and just stands there.
- Cristina: What.
- Ezio: What?
- Cristina: Why are you just standing there?
- Ezio: (stuttering) Oh. Um... Because I... wanted to ask you something. Which is... What's your name?
- Cristina: Pft! Not one you'll ever need to make use of. (She walks away)
- Ezio: Aspetta! (Wait!) I wasn't ready. I was planning on being really charming. And funny! Can I just have a second chance?
Cristina smiles, but still walks away. Federico bursts out laughing.
- Ezio: Oh well...
- Federico: Ezio, all is not lost. You made her smile! She will remember you now.
- Ezio: No, I can still fix this. I'll follow her a ways, see where she lives.
Ezio tails Cristina to her house without being detected. Vieri de' Pazzi is found waiting at her front door. He poses for her, showing himself off.
- Cristina: I told you. I'm not interested.
- Vieri: Sì. (Yes.) But I am.
- Cristina: Get in line.
Cristina attempts to push Vieri aside and enter her house. Vieri however, loses his patience and restrains Cristina, pushing her up against the door.
- Vieri: I think not, amore mio (my love). I've decided I'm tired of waiting for you to open your legs on your own.
Ezio steps forward, making his presence known. Vieri turns around and spots Ezio.
- Vieri: Cane rognoso (Shabby dog)! What do you want here? This has nothing to do with you.
- Ezio: Nice to see you too, Vieri. I think you're disturbing this young lady's day.
Vieri lets Cristina go, focusing on Ezio. He takes a couple of threatening steps towards Ezio, and the two begin a fistfight.
- Ezio: Is that the best you can do?
- Vieri: Shut your mouth. I'll kill you.
Ezio eventually emerges victorious, and Vieri flees. As Vieri runs away he turns back.

Vieri spits on the ground and runs away. Ezio turns toward Cristina.
- Cristina: Thank you. That was very kind of you.
- Ezio: Are you alright?
- Cristina: I am now... You asked for my name earlier. It's Cristina.
- Ezio: (bowing) Piaciere (a pleasure), Cristina! I'm Ezio.
- Cristina: Well, Ezio. Looks like you got yourself a second chance.
Cristina kisses Ezio on the cheek and departs. Ezio stays where he is, staring dreamily into the distance with a smile on his face.
Outcome
Ezio saves Cristina from Vieri, and earns a second chance with her.
