Wakare was a landowner in Naukratis, Egypt in the first century BCE, whose working practices were unethical and exploitative.

Wakare's lack of ethics eventually boiled over and caused a riot on the streets of Naukratis, though he had hired three thugs to protect him and silence his dissenters.[1] He was later murdered in his own home.[2]
