Sister Teodora is the leader of the Venetian Courtesans (prostitutes), whose "HQ" bordello is situated in Venice's Dorsoduro district. Originally a daughter of jewellery sellers, Teodora got in trouble for adultery with a married man, and was sent to a nunnery by her parents to avoid punishment in the courts.
