Tartaros, also spelled Tartarus, is the dungeon of torment and suffering in the Greek mythology. It was where Zeus imprisoned the Titans, including his own father Kronos, following their overthrow by the Olympians.
History
Mythology
It was also the place where Typhon was imprisoned after his failed attempt to overthrow Zeus.[1]
Upon returning to the plagued Athens during the Peloponnesian War the Spartan misthios Kassandra likened the city's state to that of Tartarus.[2]
Stimulation
In a stimulation created by the Isu Aletheia, Tartaros was ruled by another Isu Hades, who was revered by the Greeks as the god of the underworld.[3]
Trivia
- Though often likened with the Greek underworld, Tartarus was a place on its own, closer to Christianity's observation of Hell.
Appearances
