Snitches were soldiers who served as drummers seen in both the British and Continental armies during the American Revolutionary War.

Appearance

Snitches of the British Army and Continental Army were identically dressed, wearing a yellow uniform and hat, as apposed to the uniform of their corresponding side. They carried with them and played a drum while marching with their allies.

Combat

They were usually accompanied by five or more soldiers, but occasionally could be seen marching with a single officer. When the unit was attacked, they generally ran from the battlefield to call for reinforcements.
