The Areadbhair was a spear fabled to have an unquenchable thirst for blood.
In 2020, an Animus mod of the long weapon was installed by Layla Hassan for use in her simulations of shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir's memories.[1]

Behind the scenes
The spear shares the same name with one of the alternate appellations of the weapon wielded by the Irish mythical hero Lugh. It was said to be one of four treasures left behind by the supernatural Tuatha Dé Danann, with a mind of its own, and its head had to alternately be kept in a freshly-made draught of poppy leaves to quench its bloodlust, or in a pot of water to prevent it from spontaneously igniting.[2]
