The Second Plague was a hoax purportedly manufactured by Erudito,[1] claiming that a viral epidemic had struck the continent of Africa in late 2006, wiping out almost all of its population.
The hoax, published as a news story on Abstergo News Wire on 8 September 2012, stated that a virus called L-11 had broken out in Africa and caused the deaths of 96% of the continent's population over the course of three months. By 2012, the continent had become practically uninhabited and plans were made to divide Africa between the rest of the world. The plans were met with resistance by the remaining people living on the continent.[2] On 11 October 2013, Abstergo News Wire 'revealed' that Erudito had claimed responsibility for the hack.[1]
