Scholar's Estate

The Scholar's Estate was a residence in the Suburb of Kahtabah, within Baghdad's Abbasiyah district. It was nestled between the Kufa Gate of the Round City and the Hammam.

History

Strictly reserved for scholars from across the Abbasid Caliphate, the Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq traced a letter to the estate in search of Zahra, an Order of the Ancients scholar who had forced Hunayn ibn Ishaq to translate a book of an unknown language. When he failed to find Zahra, he awaited her return on the rooftops. Once Zahra had returned with her guards, Basim promptly assassinated her, gaining a clue of her leader's identity as Al-Rabisu.[1]
