SAVAK (Persian: سازمان اطلاعات و امنیت کشور, National Intelligence and Security Organization) was the Secret Police and Intelligence service, founded by Iran's king, Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in 1957 (Shamsi: 1335) with the help of the United States' Central Intelligence Agency and Israel's Mossad.

It disbanded in 1979, during the Islamic Revolution of Iran. It had nearly 60,000 agents during its peak period, although more conservative estimates place the number of agents at 4,000-6,000 members. SAVAK has been described as Iran's "most hated and feared institution" due to its practice of torturing and executing opponents of the Pahlavi regime. After the Iranian Revolution of 1979, the group was disbanded and all its directors were executed.

In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Subject 16 revealed through the Rifts that the group was formed by the Templars to terrorize citizens and protect capitalist oil interests in Iran.
