SAVAK ( Persian: سازمان اطلاعات و امنیت کشور , National Intelligence and Security Organization ) was the Secret Police and Intelligence service which founded by Iran's king , Mohammad Reza shah Pahlavi in 1957 ( Shamsi : 1335 ) with help of CIA and Mossad . It was operated from 1957 and disbanded in 1979 during the Islamic Revolution of Iran . It had nearly 60,000 agents at all . SAVAK has been described as Iran's "most hated and feared institution" prior because of its practice of torturing and executing opponents of the Pahlavi regime.
