The Roman Republic was the period of the ancient Roman civilization when the government operated as a republic. The Roman Republic was founded in 509 BCE after the overthrow of the Roman Kingdom, and predated the Roman Empire.

The government of the Roman Republic, the Senātus Populusque Rōmānus (SPQR), was heavily manipulated by the Templar Order throughout its existence.[1] The Templars supported Gaius Julius Caesar, a Roman general, statesman and Consul, when he was appointed dictator of the Roman Republic.[2] Because of Caesar's corruption, a group of Assassin senators calling themselves Liberatores under leadership of Marcus Junius Brutus plotted the dictator's assassination, and killed him in the Roman Senate.[3]

Marcus Junius Brutus and his co-conspirator Gaius Cassius Longinus fled, but were pursued by the Romans under leadership of Marcus Antonius and Octavian. The ensuing civil war was eventually crushed, and Brutus committed suicide during the Battle of Philippi.[4]
