Petruccio (right) is going to be executed.

In 1476, Petruccio asked his brother, Ezio, to retrieve some feathers for him, the reason for which he kept a secret. Ezio agreed, but informed his younger brother he must return to bed thereafter. The next day, Petruccio was arrested alongside his father and brother on a trumped-up charge of treason against the ruling Medici family; he was executed the day after.

Following the escape of Ezio, his mother and sister to Monteriggioni, Ezio begun his quest of vengence against the Knights Templar. Throughout the course of his journey Ezio collected a large number of feathers in memory of Petruccio, which were strewn across northern Italy, and deposited them inside a chest in the Villa Auditore. After collecting fifty feathers, Ezio was given a large war hammer by his uncle; after collecting fifty more, Ezio received an cape embossed with the Auditore shield from his mother, who thanked him for not giving up on her; this was the first time she had spoken since the execution.

During their final battle, Rodrigo Borgia mentioned to Ezio that Pertruccio and Federico's deaths were not needed; he had just wanted to prove a point.

Trivia

  • If Petruccio's profile at the Database is read, it states that he may have died from his "illness", although it is later revealed in the mission "Last Man Standing" that he was executed.
  • Ezio's only interaction with him in the game is when Petruccio asks him to collect his feathers. After that he is only seen during "Last Man Standing" but you never talk to him ever again.
  • Petruccio never came to know that his father was an Assassin.
  • Interestingly, when you look up Rodrigo's database video, you find Petruccio hanging in the left-hand side and in different clothes.
  • Throughout the entire game, it was never hinted why Petruccio actually needed the feathers.
