The Passetto di Borgo was an eight-hundred meter long elevated walkway running through the center of Rome, which connected the Cappella Sistina with the Castel Sant'Angelo.
History
On December 28, 1499, the Assassin Ezio Auditore fought his way along the Passetto di Borgo in order to reach the Grand Master of the Templars, Rodrigo Borgia. After killing Rodrigo on August 18th 1503, his son Cesare used the Passetto to reach the Apple of Eden which Rodrigo had hidden in the courtyard in front of the Basilica di San Pietro.[1][2]
Trivia
- In Assassin's Creed II, the Passetto di Borgo is significantly larger, looking much more like a city wall than the raised walkway it is in reality.
- In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, the Passetto di Borgo is an 'out-of-bounds' area.
