Ankos was a Greek mercenary, and the older brother of Araxis who lived during the 5th century BCE. They both came to Pephka seeking to slay the Minotaur and claim the Prize of Pephka during the Peloponnesian War.

Biography

Dreaming of becoming a baker, Ankos became a mercenary instead, possibly due to his brother's talk of how 'glorious' beast-slaying would be.[1]

Having heard of the Prize of Pephka, Ankos and Araxis passed the "Minotaur Pre-Trials" as required by Leiandros, and then they were joined by the Spartan misthios Kassandra before they set out for the Cave of the Brave in Dikte Plateau. However, the roars from within scared the brothers and they fled before even seeing the 'monster'.[1]

Trivia

  • After fleeing the cave, Ankos remains within the Death Gorge Ruins, along with Araxis.
