The Oceanids are a variant of water nymph in Greek mythology.
During the Peloponnesian War, a woman living alone among pigs, wild boars, and lions on Atoll Point of Paros Island claimed to be one of these water nymphs, introducing herself to the Spartan misthios Kassandra as "Circe of the Oceanids".[1]
Trivia
- Though Circe was said to be the daughter of an Oceanid, she was not counted among them.
