Nyhofn (lit: New port) was an early Norse settlement and port established by the Wolf Clan in Vinland during the late 9th century.
History
Circa 875, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir searched and hunted for the Wardens of War's Maegester Gorm Kjotvesson, who was her blood enemy. Through her voyage, Eivor arrived at the docks of Nyhofn. There, Eivor was greeted and inspected by the dockswoman, Hilde. Upon their conversation, Eivor masqueraded as a woman named "Horse" and asked about the settlement. However, Hilde proved uncooperative. Within their talks, Hilde was informed that the guide, Olav, was nowhere to be found for Gorm. From this, Eivor went to find Olav, as he presented as a way to find Gorm's location.[1]
From her investigation, Eivor inspected Nyhofn and found out that Olav was held as a prisoner by Gorm, due to his ongoing ties with the natives. However, Eivor figured out that Olav escaped and followed his trail from the docks.[2]
After a series of event, Eivor went back to the docks to leave Vinland, after succesfully killing Gorm. There, Eivor met Hilde again as she revealed her true self to Hilde. Soon, Olav came and hugged his sister, Hilde, and proclaimed Gorm dead by Eivor's hand. From all that transpired, Hilde and Eivor agreed to head out from Vinland as Olav stated to stay for a while longer with his new friends.[3]
From her travels, Eivor helped and aided a trio of hunters track and kill a creature that evaded them. With Eivor's assistance, the hunters came by their target, a cougar, and killed it.[4] Eivor aided a woman in Nyhofn as the woman stated her brother had been missing for a while on his hunt. From her inspection, Eivor came back with the body of the hunter and gave him to his sister, who mourned and gave her brother proper rites as the hunter he was.[5]
