Myriam

Myriam.

Myriam was a huntress during the American Revolutionary War who resided within the Davenport Homestead.

Biography

Early life

Instead of choosing the traditional alternatives of convents or brothels for a woman, she chose to live a life in the wild. By doing so, she eventually severed all ties to her immediate kin, and lost the whereabouts of her family.

Moving to the Homestead

Following the discovery of the Davenport Homestead's rich lands and abundant wildlife, Myriam went to request permission to hunt there from its owner, but en route, Myriam was confronted by a group of poachers. She attempted to sway them into her train of thought, but she was unsuccessful and they attacked her. During this attack, she was shot in the arm with a lead bullet.

The Assassin Connor later found the injured Myriam and invited her to stay at the Homestead to recuperate, where Achilles Davenport tended to her wound. Upon Connor's departure to find the poachers, she urged him to search near her hunting blind, where he later found three of them. Killing the trio, he proceeded to overhear two more, who discussed William Johnson and his purchase of the land owned by the Kanien'kehá:ka tribe.

After dealing with them, Connor advanced on the final poacher, who he took captive. Threateningly, the Assassin eventually released him with the order of informing his companions of the happenings on the Homestead. On recovering from her injury, Myriam began to sell her surplus kills to the people of the Homestead, and began trading her furs around Colonial America. She then set up her camp in the northwestern part of the Homestead, where she hunted, skinned, and roasted her kills.

Trophy hunting

After two of her snares were snapped by a prowling white cougar, she requested the aid of Connor, who assisted her in tracking it. She believed its albino fur to be worth a fortune, since it was a rare and unique beast. Connor, intrigued, decided to help. Upon discovering of the cougar, Connor gave chase, but was unable to catch up to it, and it subsequently bolted inside Norris' mine.

Norris, who was dumping a load of rock at the time, informed them of its whereabouts. With the location in mind, Myriam devised a plan in which Connor would lure the cougar out, and she would take the shot. The plan succeeded, and Norris and Connor congratulated Myriam jovially. During this time, Myriam also began to suspect Norris' attraction to her.

Surviving an ambush

After a failed attempt to gain her favor with wild flowers, Norris nervously awaited on the trail leading to Myriam's hunting cabin, attempting to persuade himself to move forward with his gift of a skinning knife. In response, Connor forced some confidence into him, and they moved forward together.

Upon arriving, Myriam informed the pair that she had promised Ellen a bale of furs, and that she needed to move into the bush to continue her hunt. To this, Connor informed Myriam that he would help out, to which she agreed, thankful for his assistance. Before the pair set out however, Norris handed the knife over to Myriam, receiving a kiss on the cheek for his intentions. From there, Connor took down some wolves as part of Ellen's fur request, and then set out to meet Myriam at her northern-most hunting blind.

When the Assassin arrived, the huntress was not present, to which Connor found her immersed in a knife fight with the surviving poacher from before, who had returned with murderous intentions and had attempted to ambush her. However, Myriam had managed to keep the man at bay with her new knife, until Connor arrived and chased down the frightened poacher, who begged for mercy, but received none. As a result of the attack, and Norris' gift ensuring her safety, Myriam realized that she was attracted to him and proceeded on to a relationship with the miner.

Marriage to Norris

Over time, the relationship between the pair culminated to Myriam's eventual marriage to Norris, though when the date approached, she began having second thoughts. These nerves were so severe that she fled from Connor through the treetops as he came to check on her at the wedding day, with the Assassin close behind.

As Connor chased after her, she shouted that marrying Norris would mean sacrificing her way of life, and that she no longer wished to be wed. Connor replied that no-one expected her to change who she was, and managed to convince her to return when he caught up to her.

As Myriam was unaware of her father's whereabouts, Father Timothy suggested that Connor act in his place, which he accepted, giving her to Norris in marriage. From there, Connor attended the couple's reception at Oliver and Corrine's tavern, where all of the Homestead's residents celebrated.

Trivia

• It is revealed that both Myriam and Norris were illiterate, as they required Father Timothy to read a letter received from a person regarding Norris' mined goods. Another letter informed Myriam that a shipment of furs she sent had been lost in a shipwreck, read to them by Dr. Lyle White.
• Myriam seemed to hold utmost respect for Achilles, lingering behind at his funeral, even after everyone but Connor had departed.
