Biography
Meeting with President Truman
He attempted to nationalize the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company and distribute its profits to the Iranian people, to further this goal, Mosaddegh visited the United States on 8 October 1951 and for two months repeatedly met with and discussed the issues with then-President Harry S. Truman.[1][2]
Overthrown via coup
Despite his efforts, in 1953 he was overthrown in a coup d'état orchestrated by Sha'baan Ja'fari,[1] who was hired by Abstergo Industries and backed by the United States' CIA and the United Kingdom's MI6. After his ouster, the Templars installed Mohammad Reza Pahlavi as Shah of Iran.[3] Following the installment of Pahlavi as Shah, massive riots broke out across the nation leaving almost 300 civilians dead in the streets of Tudeh from the ensuing firefights.[1][2]
