Medusa's Gaze was a shield bearing the image of Medusa, a gorgon featured prominently in Greek mythology.
During the 1st century BCE, the shield was bought by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa from the nomad merchant Reda.[1]

Behind the scenes
The image of Medusa on the shield seems to be inspired by a shield Filippino Negroli made for Charles V in 1541. It has the same arrangement, with the only difference being the expression on Medusa's face.[2]
