Maria Gorm

Maria Gorm (died 1940) was the widow of Marc Gorm with whom they had two children, Justine and Paul. She was also the sister-in-law of the British Asassin Eddie Gorm.

Biography

Maria was married to Marc Gorm, who served in the Royal Navy as an officer alongside his younger brother Eddie. In 1931, while serving as a commander aboard the HMS Hood, Marc led a mutiny while the ship was docked at the naval base in Invergordon, Scotland. Her brother-in-law Eddie was sent to put a stop to the mutiny but failed to do so and was dishonorably discharged from the navy for his actions. Marc was subsequently captured and sent to the Russian front, where he ended his life in a gulag. This made Maria a widow and subsequently by 1940, she and her children lived with Eddie in the East End of London, where Eddie ran a shipping company called the Gorm & Co.[1]

On 7th September that year, Maria's children were met by Julia Dusk and Boris Pash, both of whom were members of the Assassins. The two asked the children for Eddie's whereabouts and gave them some chocolates. Later that night, Maria was informed of this by Eddie, who believed the people who talked to the children were likely American competitors who wanted to mark their territory. Worried for their safety, Maria asked to relocate and move in with her parents in Gloucester. Eddie initially refused, but eventually agreed after seeing the faces of the children. Maria and her children packed their belongings while Eddie left to inform his friend Stan about their departure. This served as the last time Eddie met Maria and the children as shortly after, London was hit by bombardment by German bombers. Maria and the children were killed when one of the bombs landed on their house.[1]
